The Jewellery Appraiser

As a child, Amanda remembered peering into her mother’s jewellery box and marvelling over the many wonderful coloured gems. She was inquisitive to how they were created and precious they all were. From a young age she would spend hours colouring and painting and this would later turn into an appreciation for the arts and history.  Little did she know at the time that this passion would turn into her dream job of jewellery appraisal. Of which is a never-ending subject, combining of arts, history, geography and science.

In 2006 Amanda started working for an Independent jeweller, where she learnt about fine jewellery. She delved into design and found gem properties fascinating.  She also managed the onsite workshop and acquired knowledge into jewellery manufacture.  As a natural progression, she completed  CAT (Certificate Appraisal Theory) course and attended the Eric Emms ‘Assessing Mounted Diamonds course’, getting the pre-requisites of a Valuer.

 

 2017 was a special year for Amanda, She completed the GEM A’s ‘Gem Foundation’ course, qualifying as a gemmologist and started working for an independent valuation consultancy.  She also became a member of the NAJ's Institute of Registered Valuers.  She gained experience providing valuations for the jewellery trade, private clients, insurance companies and accountant agencies.  She can value, modern, antique and Asian jewellery, as well as watches and silverware and flatware.

Amanda now has her own company providing valuations for the purpose of Insurance Valuations and IHTA (Inheritance Tax Assessment) Valuations.  She works within the Berkshire, Hampshire and Oxfordshire areas and visits clients privately, giving them peace of mind, that their treasured valuables never have to leave their side.
